Major scale

C major scale

The C major scale is the most fundamental scale in Western music theory. Using only the white keys on a piano from C to C, it represents the purest form of the major scale pattern. This scale has no sharps or flats in its key signature, making it the starting point for understanding key signatures, intervals, and chord construction.

The scale follows the standard major scale pattern of whole and half steps: C to D (whole), D to E (whole), E to F (half), F to G (whole), G to A (whole), A to B (whole), and B to C (half).

As the most basic major scale, C major serves as a reference point for understanding all other scales and key signatures. Its natural progression of notes without any accidentals makes it ideal for beginners learning music theory and for demonstrating fundamental musical concepts.
